Sexual Assault Manual
The Sexual Assault Manual is designed to assist judicial officers, legal practitioners and court staff, and the general community on the investigation, prosecution and sentencing in respect of sexual offences within the Victorian criminal justice system. The manual has been written in plain English with a particular emphasis on explaining how the criminal justice system actually works when dealing with the investigation and prosecution of sexual offenders and sentencing in respect of sexual offences.
The manual also provides a comprehensive overview of how a complaint progresses through the criminal justice system. In doing so, the manual endeavours to explain the legal procedures and the substantive law in an easy and hopefully understandable fashion.
The manual is solely available as an online document. The College does not prepare or distribute print or CD-ROM versions, and the manual cannot be saved to a users' computer.
